Tuna Salad This is one of my favorite ways to prepare tuna. You can either boil it up your fresh fish, If you have some smoked tuna or leftovers from the grill, skip down to the chopping and mashing. Boil: Before cooking make sure all the bloodline is cut out. When boiling it, I cut the fillets into 1-2 inch chunks and throw it in the water. In the water, I add some soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and dill weed. It doesn’t take long to cook. Only need to boil a minute or two. Check one of the bigger chunks and make sure it is not pink in the middle. Drain the water off, but I’ll leave the spices in with the fish. I’ll pop it in the freezer while I’m chopping the veggies to get the fish to cool faster. Chopping and mashing: Smash the tuna up with the Potatoes masher, or a fork will do. Once the tuna is cold, mash it up into as small as pieces as you can. Mix in your favorite veggies and then add the Mayonnaise. I like to add some onion, celery and pickles to my tuna salad, almond slices are great also! Makes great sandwiches or as a dip with crackers. |
