Finadene What is that????? Living in Guam for 13 years, we learned to eat a lot of rice. It is a main staple. Well, I grew up in the Northwest where it was potatoes all the time, with lots of stuff on them. Even when we were kids, we had to have something on our rice, we just couldn’t eat it plain. Then I found Finadene. I don’t eat rice without it now! It’s great sprinkled over rice, fried fish, chicken, you name it! I’ll add it also when making fried rice instead of just plain soy sauce. It’s an easy recipe and yes I’ll give you measurements! 1/2 cup white vinegar 1/2 cup soy sauce 2 chopped green onions or 1/4 cup chopped white onion “Rota Hot Pepper” to taste.. (HUH!) I always have to be difficult don’t I? That was the local hot pepper on Guam. Yummy, hot and tasty! But you probably won’t find it in your local store (I have friends that bring me a jar every year! that’s how I have it in Mexico). So try some other small red hot pepper, or Tabasco works too, just lighten up a little on the vinegar. With a fork, smash the onion a little in the soya/vinegar mixture to release the onion juices. It’s ready. That’s it. Every woman on Guam had their own variation, play around with the amounts of vinegar to soy sauce to what you taste buds like the best. |
